Delete your Elec-Mate account
Elec-Mate (developed by Elec-Mate Ltd, registered in England & Wales) lets you permanently delete your account and the personal data associated with it, at any time. This page explains how to do it, what gets deleted, what we are legally required to keep, and how long the process takes.
1. Delete from inside the app
Every Elec-Mate account holder can self-serve account deletion from the app on iOS, Android or the web at www.elec-mate.com.
- Open Elec-Mate and sign in.
- Tap your avatar (top right) and choose Settings.
- Open the Privacy tab.
- Scroll to Your Rights Under UK GDPR and tap Right to Erasure → Delete Account.
-
Type
DELETEin the confirmation box and tap Delete my account permanently.
You will be signed out immediately, your email address on the account will be anonymised, and a confirmation email will be sent to your original address.
2. Request deletion by email
If you cannot sign in (forgotten password, device lost, etc.) email founder@elec-mate.com from the email address on the account with the subject "Delete my Elec-Mate account". We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 7 working days.
3. What gets deleted
When you confirm deletion, the following data is permanently removed:
- Your profile (name, email, phone, avatar, qualifications)
- Your auth account and stored credentials
- Saved certificates and certificate drafts (EICR, EIC, Minor Works, Fire Alarm, EV, Solar PV, PAT)
- Saved quotes and quote drafts (unless converted to an invoice — see retention)
- Customer CRM entries and site visit notes
- Calculator inputs, saved RAMS and risk assessments
- Apprentice study progress, mock exam results, OJT entries and portfolio items
- Your AI chat history with Mate and the specialist agents
- Push notification tokens and device registrations
- Photos, signatures and uploads attached to your account
- Settings, preferences and cookie consent records
- Active sessions on every device
Any active paid subscription (Apprentice, Electrician or Business) is cancelled at the next billing date so you are not charged again. Payment records held by our payment processor (Apple, Google Play or Stripe) are governed by their own retention policies.
4. What we are legally required to keep
Some records must be retained under UK law even after account deletion. Where this applies, the records are detached from your identity where possible and held only for the periods below.
| Data | Retention | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Issued invoices and accounting records | 6 years | HMRC — Companies Act 2006 / VAT Act |
| Certificates already issued to clients | 7 years | BS 7671 / regulatory record-keeping |
| Security audit logs (sign-ins, deletion request) | 12 months | Fraud prevention & security |
| Anonymised analytics events | Indefinite (anonymous) | Aggregate product analytics, no PII |
5. Deletion timeline
Account deletion runs in two stages so we can comply with UK GDPR's right to erasure (Article 17) while preventing accidental loss.
Stage 1 — Immediate (within seconds)
Your sign-in is revoked, sessions on every device are terminated, your email is anonymised on the auth record, and your data is hidden from the app. From your perspective the account no longer exists.
Stage 2 — Hard delete (within 30 days)
All personal data listed in section 3 is purged from our active systems and rotated out of encrypted backups. After this point, your data cannot be recovered. The only records that remain are those in section 4, kept only for the periods stated and never used for any other purpose.
