BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 Update: A4:2026 was issued on 15 April 2026 and represents the most significant revision since the 18th Edition itself. Key changes include:

• Chapter 57 — Stationary secondary batteries: A new chapter for battery installations whose designed purpose is storage and supply. Battery requirements moved here from Regulation 551.8, and 551.7 was redrafted for bidirectional energy flow.
• Sections 545 and 716: new requirements for ICT functional earthing and bonding (545) and for Power over Ethernet (716).
• Table 52.1, Chapter 81 and Appendix 6: cables in walls are now in Table 52.1; Chapter 81 (energy efficiency) replaces Appendix 17; and on condition reports FI no longer has to be marked unsatisfactory.
• A3:2024 context: A3:2024 (issued 31 July 2024) added two new definitions and one regulation for bidirectional and unidirectional devices — these remain in force under A4:2026.
