The earlier you spot a problem, the cheaper it is to fix. A job that is one day behind schedule on day 2 is easy to recover — you can work slightly longer, add resource, or adjust the client's expectations. A job that is three days behind schedule on day 8 is a crisis — it is eating into the next job, the client is unhappy, and recovery options are limited and expensive.
Status tracking: Each job moves through stages: quoted, accepted, materials ordered, in progress (first fix, second fix, testing), complete, invoiced, paid. A quick glance at your dashboard shows the status of every active job. Jobs that have been "in progress" longer than the scheduled duration are automatically flagged.
Photo progress logs: Take photos directly within Elec-Mate as work progresses. These serve multiple purposes: evidence for your certification records, client updates showing progress, dispute resolution if issues arise later, and training material for apprentices. Photos are automatically tagged with the job, date, and location.
Checklists: Create checklists for each job type — first fix items, second fix items, testing requirements, handover documentation. Operatives tick off items as they complete them, giving you visibility of progress without needing to visit every site.
