Most clients think the board itself sets the whole price. In reality, the cost usually moves because of the installation around it: number of circuits, condition of existing conductors, need for SPDs or RCBOs, tail upgrades, bonding defects, and the amount of testing needed before the board can be safely re-energised.
A fast survey saves arguments later. If the existing board is badly labelled, the tails are poor, or the main bonding is missing, that needs to be picked up early and reflected in the quote. Otherwise a tidy-looking price turns into a stressful on-site renegotiation.
