Every certificate type supports digital signature capture. The inspector, designer, installer, and commissioner can each sign directly on the phone screen. Signatures are embedded in the certificate PDF and stored securely in the cloud.

The signature capture uses high-resolution touch input that produces clean, professional signatures even on smaller phone screens. Touch targets are 44px minimum and designed for use with both fingers and styluses.

For multi-party certificates (such as EICs where the designer, installer, and commissioner may be different people), each party can sign on the same device or receive a signing link. The certificate is only finalised when all required signatures are in place.

Elec-Mate automatically validates test results against BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 requirements. When you enter an earth fault loop impedance reading, the app checks it against the maximum permitted Zs value for the specific protective device type and rating on that circuit.

Validation covers:

• Earth fault loop impedance (Zs) against maximum values from Tables 41.1–41.6, with the correct table selected automatically by protective device type — fuses (Table 41.2), Type B/C/D MCBs and RCBOs (Tables 41.3 and 41.6), and RCDs (Table 41.5). Cold-measured site readings are compared against the GN3 0.80 correction factor limit, not just the tabulated maximum.
• Insulation resistance minimum acceptable values
• RCD operation times against Table 41.1
• Continuity readings for ring circuit compliance
• Prospective fault current against protective device breaking capacity

Certificate forms include the A4:2026 Appendix 6 fields for recording SPD and AFDD details (Reg 722.826.3.201), covering the new device recording requirements that older apps and paper forms do not yet include.
